INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day marched in to Wellington on Friday, with women and men from around the country promoting peace.

About 150 people marched from Parliament to Civic Square, singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth”.

It was hosted by an international group called Wellington Women Walk 4 Peace.

In its second year, organisers Belinda Bonzon-Liu and Matilde Tayawa-Figuracion say they hope to continue the march as long as people celebrate International Women’s Day.

Te Papa also played host to some key speakers, including a message from former Prime Minister, Helen Clark.

Women marched with signs and posters, showcasing the need for peace.
